Introduction

CTECS is recruiting for a part‑time Maintainer position. The maintainer performs building and grounds maintenance duties in a high school environment, including cleaning classrooms and bathrooms, snow removal, and other general maintenance duties.

Purpose of Job Class (Nature of Work)

Performing basic tasks of an unskilled nature; tasks include building and equipment maintenance, grounds care, food services, operating trucks under five tons, and parking garage tasks.

Examples of Duties

Basic record keeping and performing related duties as required.

Building and Equipment Maintenance
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as checks for gauges, steam trap indicators, belt tension, filter changes, door inspections.
  • Tighten chairs, tables, desks, door hinges, cabinets, lubricate when necessary.
  • Replace castors, clean grease traps, check temperatures, clean strainers and boilers.
  • Replace ceiling tiles, loose floor tiles, spot patch walls, replace washers.
  • Repair minor leaks in toilets, drinking fountains, etc.
  • Install shelving, bulletin boards, clean motor housings, ducts.
  • Assist other maintenance employees and perform custodial functions as required.
  • Move furniture and perform related duties as required.
Grounds Care (outside services)
  • Digs ditches, shovels materials, operates small power equipment, snowblowers, mowers.
  • Cuts weeds or brush, rakes fill, loam, grass or leaves.
  • Moves, loads, unloads and distributes supplies and equipment.
