Job TitleENTRANCE MONITOR
Job CharacteristicsEducational Support Personnel, 10.5-month contract (190 days, 8.5 hour work day [paid 8 hours, plus 30-minute unpaid lunch]).
SupervisionNot applicable
EvaluationEvaluated annually by the Principal or Assistant Principal
PurposeTo improve the safety and security of the students and staff by monitoring people who enter and exit the school.
Responsibilities/DutiesEssential Job Functions
- Organize and maintain visitor's log and require visitors to wear nametag or badge that labels them as such.
- Participate and provide leadership in all school emergency drills.
- Occasionally assist school administrative assistant with office tasks.
- Interact with substitute teaching staff and support with absence management and school attendance.
- Collaborate with Director of Safety and Security to reinforce school safety and utilization of technology.
- Complete all District compliance training as required.
Additional Job Functions
Perform other duties as directed by the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or Building Principal/Assistant Principal.
Educational Preparation, Certificates, Qualifications- Prefer previous experience in schools.
- Ability to visually supervise students, assess situations for safety concerns.
- Ability to perform assigned duties with a minimum of direction.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in making decisions regarding the safety and welfare of students.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.
- Clearance of FBI Background check required and EHR/Faith's Law requirements.
- TB test within 90 days of hire date;
Physical Exam within last year of hire date. - Valid First Aid/CPR Cards preferred.
Moderate degree of physical stamina with occasional lifting of 10 to 15 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds required in the physical assistance of students with special needs. Ability to move freely to various locations within the classroom, office and other business and community settings. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and bending. Frequent repetitive activities including hands, arms, and legs for clerical related work.
Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
