Step into a vital role empowering elementary students as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming academic year. This contract position supports students in grades K-4 through a resource model, blending targeted pull-out instruction with inclusive, push-in support in general education settings. As part of your work with a dedicated caseload of 8-12 students, youll provide both academic guidance and social-emotional support, making a meaningful difference each day.

Your school day runs full-time, Monday through Friday, encompassing 35 hours each week. Breaks are built into the schedulea daily 30-minute lunch and two 15-minute unpaid breaksso you can recharge as you focus on delivering high-quality instruction and interventions.

Desired Skills &

Certifications:
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) or eligibility for Illinois certification (information available via ISBE Educator Licensure Information System)
  • Experience working with elementary students in a special education setting
  • Preferred:
    Certified training in Orton Gillingham or equivalent structured literacy programs (such as Wilson, SLANT, or Sonday)
  • Proven ability to develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Strong collaboration skills to work alongside general education teachers and support staff
  • Commitment to fostering both academic achievement and emotional well-being
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver customized instruction to a small caseload in both resource and inclusion settings
  • Design and implement differentiated lessons and interventions
  • Monitor, document, and communicate student progress in academics and social/emotional areas
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet diverse student needs
  • Engage in ongoing communication with families and participate in IEP meetings
