Overview
3rd Shift Facilities Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for providing general building and grounds support by responding to and proactively identifying and resolving facilities-related maintenance needs. Tasks may include but are not limited to operation and maintenance of mechanical systems, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and electrical systems (including lighting). In addition, the facilities technician will be called upon to assist with moves/adds/changes in the office environment, perform minor carpentry, maintain fire protection and life-safety systems, assist in environmental compliance programs and assure the building structure and grounds are appropriately maintained.
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and proof of insurability required. MVR required to validate status.
Work Schedule
: 11pm - 7am Sun - Fri. (Possibility of overtime during the week and potential weekends should a business need arise.)
- Inspect interior and exterior building structures to assure functionality of systems, identify and make repairs, and document actions and activities - making recommendations to the Facilities Manager.
- Perform minor electrical maintenance such as re-lamping and replacement or repair of electrical components such as wall switches and outlets.
- Perform minor plumbing maintenance such as replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains.
- Operate water and waste-water treatment systems including documenting meter-reads, changing filter media, conducting water quality testing, etc.
- Conduct and document prescribed testing of fire protection systems, life-safety systems, and emergency response equipment.
- Perform office moves, furniture assembly/disassembly, and installs.
- Evaluate, prepare, and paint structures, surfaces, and equipment.
- Develop and complete preventative maintenance tasks for all building systems.
- Perform general cleaning and maintenance of the interior and exterior of facilities, including grounds keeping and snow removal (where necessary).
- Set up spaces for training, meetings, and events.
- Completes routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshoots maintenance issues on standardized equipment.
- Potential to assist with production line breakdowns.
- Assists in maintaining the organization of the facilities work area and monitor product to ensure adequate inventory.
- Documents work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc. in the CMMS.
- Communicates and collaborates with other departments, including office, production, and warehouse regarding facilities maintenance projects and needs.
- Participates in training, retraining, and continual improvement processes and methods.
- Ensures plant is maintained and in accordance with housekeeping policies and guidelines.
- Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations.
- Adhere to all company policies.
- Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager and/or onsite EHS Team.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work process, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate courtesy and tact with people in various positions and levels within the company.
- Must be capable of multi-tasking and working both as a team and independently.
- Must have effective time management skills.
- Must have general computer skills, ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints and is capable of accurately distinguishing colors.
- Must maintain a clean and safe workspace.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be dependable and have excellent attendance.
- Must be available to work overtime as needed with little to no notice.
- Must be able to pass a forklift, boom lift, scissor lift, and a respirator fit test.
- Attendance is an essential function of the position.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Two-year technical degree in maintenance related field or a combination of education and experience.
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Technician preferred.
