FACILITIES/CUSTODIAN (Part-Time) Carter G. Woodson School

Carter G. Woodson School is a non-profit charter school in Winston-Salem, N.C.We serve 500 students from grades K – 12 each year and support over 80+ staff. We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team on a full-time basis (10:00 am - 6:00pm). As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of our facilities.

Your primary duties will include cleaning designated areas, restocking supplies, and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for both staff and visitors.

Full-time; on campus.

• Clean and sanitize assigned areas, including restrooms, offices, common areas, and corridors.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors.
• Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
• Clean and disinfect surfaces, such as windows, countertops, tables, and equipment.
• Replenish supplies, such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper.
• Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate supervisor.
• Follow health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and inform management of any shortages.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.
• Collaborate with colleagues and other staff members to ensure efficient operations.

This position requires standing, walking, and bending for extended periods. The Custodian may also be required to lift heavy objects and operate cleaning equipment. Evening shifts are typically scheduled when the building is less occupied, allowing for more uninterrupted cleaning tasks.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy objects.
• Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
