Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM; occasional weekends as needed for special events, projects, or emergency maintenance.

Welbourne Nursery & Preschool is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Maintenance/Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff. This position is responsible for the daily cleaning, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the school building, classrooms, playgrounds, and grounds.

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, common areas, and staff spaces daily.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout the facility.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly.
• Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces in accordance with health and safety standards.
• Replenish restroom and classroom supplies as needed.
• Assist with classroom setup and breakdown for special events and activities.

• Perform routine inspections of the facility and grounds to identify maintenance and safety concerns.
• Complete minor repairs, including painting, replacing fixtures, assembling furniture, and basic plumbing or electrical repairs as appropriate.
• Maintain playground equipment and outdoor areas to ensure a safe environment for children.
• Monitor HVAC, lighting, and other building systems and report incidents requiring professional service.
• Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors as directed.
• Assist with seasonal maintenance projects and facility improvements.

• Ensure compliance with licensing, health, and safety regulations.
• Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies and safety concerns.
• Maintain secure storage and proper use of cleaning supplies and maintenance equipment.
• Report hazards, accidents, or facility concerns to administration immediately.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial, maintenance, or facilities experience preferred.
• Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and basic maintenance tools.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Positive attitude and commitment to supporting a child-centered environment.
• Ability to pass all required background screenings and comply with state childcare regulations.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to perform repetitive cleaning and maintenance tasks throughout the workday.
