CRA Attendant
The CRA Attendant is responsible for the beautification, maintenance, and cleanliness of areas funded by the City of Winter Park Community Redevelopment Area (CRA). This includes the city rights-of-way, parks, streets, sidewalks, and some facilities in the designated geographic area. Work is performed under close supervision – the incumbent is assigned duties according to specified procedures and receives detailed instructions; work is reviewed frequently through observation, written reports, conferences, and adherence to established policies and procedures.
Essential functions include providing general janitorial and maintenance services in designated areas, preparing facilities for meetings, events, programs, and related functions; washing windows, emptying trash cans, dusting and polishing furniture, woodwork, and shelves; picking up and delivering supplies; collecting and removing litter and recyclable material from trash receptacles, City streets, and sidewalks; inspecting, cleaning, and removing debris or other miscellaneous items from trash receptacles and compactors, newspaper boxes, benches, light poles, kiosks, curb markings, City rights-of-way, sidewalks, and any other areas or facilities, as necessary;
removing unauthorized signage and reporting any damage or appearance issues to supervisor for evaluation and resolution; performing light landscaping and maintaining grounds by removing leaves, limbs, paper, and other debris from exterior landscape, inspecting landscaped beds and potted plants, and trimming of shrubs and pulling weeds; assisting with installation and removal of banners on City streets as scheduled; and performing other work as assigned.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include general knowledge of occupational hazards, safety rules, and practices of the work; general knowledge of cleaning materials; general knowledge of landscaping and cleaning tools and the ability to properly use them; general knowledge of departmental and municipal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; ability to perform general custodial and landscaping tasks in an efficient and timely manner;
ability to carry out assigned duties without continuous supervision; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, city officials, and the general public; ability to communicate information tactfully and impartially, both in person and in writing with all staff, city officials, and the general public; ability to demonstrate proficiency in the City of Winter Park Core Competencies; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and keep accurate records;
and this position is performed with general knowledge – the incumbent is generally familiar with information contained in relevant source documents or information in a particular subject field; has ability to use relevant sources to obtain specific or supplemental information.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent; supplemented by one year of custodial experience and computer skills for maintaining records. Certifications, training, and special requirements include possessing and maintaining a valid State of Florida Driver's License, Class E or higher.
Other requirements include physical ability to exert force occasionally, frequently, and repetitively to lift, carry, push, pull, and reposition objects; ability to traverse about a variety of environments and obstacles throughout the city, with or without reasonable accommodation; ability to ascend/descend stairs, scaffolds, and ladders; ability to remain stationary at jobsites for extended periods of time and repetitively operate related equipment for repairs/maintenance;
ability to manipulate objects, demonstrate small, precise movements, and operate necessary equipment such as small hand and power tools repetitively or continuously; ability to manipulate objects and demonstrate small, precise movements repetitively; tasks may require frequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions including inclement weather, sun, extreme temperatures, odors, dirt and dust, loud noises, and hazardous chemicals, etc.; tasks require the manipulation of objects and demonstration of small, precise movements, the ability to detect and distinguish various features of one's surroundings, and the ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with others.
