Summary of Position

The Facility Technician Supervisor is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and execution of all facility maintenance operations. This role ensures that all buildings, grounds, and equipment are safe, functional, and well‑maintained. The Supervisor provides direct leadership to maintenance staff while also performing hands‑on work across multiple trades, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and supportive environment aligned with the organization’s mission.

Responsibilities

Leadership, Supervision, & Team Coordination
  • Supervise, train, and support Facility Technicians.
  • Assign daily, weekly, and project‑based tasks; ensure timely completion.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Promote a team‑oriented, accountable, and safety‑focused work environment.
  • Assist in onboarding and training new maintenance staff.
  • Manage and ensure coverage of the on‑call rotating maintenance schedule, including emergency response responsibilities.
Facility Maintenance & Repairs
  • Perform and oversee general maintenance tasks (painting, wall repair, replace ceiling tiles, smoke detectors, basic carpentry, etc.).
  • Address and repair basic plumbing issues (toilets, sinks, showers, leaks).
  • Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs within scope.
  • Support heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) maintenance needs.
  • Ensure all maintenance work meets safety and quality standards.
Preventative Maintenance, Safety & Compliance
  • Conduct daily walkthroughs of all facilities to identify maintenance and safety concerns.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for all systems and buildings.
  • Ensure timely completion of routine inspections and corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety standards, codes, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain all required certifications and inspections for fire alarm and sprinkler systems, ensuring systems remain current, operational, and compliant.
  • Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with the Department of Inspectional Services Division and other regulatory agencies, ensuring open communication, compliance, and timely resolution of inspection findings.
  • Document and report safety hazards, damages, and required repairs to Director of Operations.
Grounds & Seasonal Maintenance
  • Oversee and participate in seasonal responsibilities (snow removal, spring cleanup, etc.).
  • Maintain exterior areas to ensure safety, cleanliness, and accessibility.
Floor & Facility Care
  • Supervise and perform floor maintenance (waxing, tile replacement, carpet cleaning, etc.).
  • Ensure all interior spaces are clean, safe, and well‑maintained.
Inventory & Equipment Management
  • Maintain organized storage areas for tools, supplies, and equipment.
  • Track inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
  • Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of all tools and equipment.
  • Monitor and control maintenance‑related expenses where applicable.
Vendor & Contractor Coordination
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local vendors and service providers.
  • Coordinate external repairs and specialized services as needed.
  • Ensure vendor work meets organizational standards and timelines.
Vehicle Fleet Management
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and scheduling of all agency vehicles.
  • Coordinate routine vehicle servicing including oil changes, inspections, tires, brakes, and mechanical repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repair history.
  • Ensure all vehicles are compliant with state inspection and registration requirements.
  • Schedule and coordinate external automotive repairs with approved vendors.
  • Monitor vehicle condition, cleanliness, and safety standards.
  • Manage vehicle availability to support program operations and transportation needs.
