The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Building and Grounds Supervisor position, located at Copper Lake/Lincoln Hills School in Irma, Wisconsin.
Position SummaryThis position will supervise the building and grounds maintenance program, providing direct supervision to specified maintenance staff and providing direction to all maintenance staff in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment and facility grounds. This position will participate in maintenance project planning, evaluation and management; direct the preventative maintenance, pest control and grounds programs; determine monthly and emergency supply and equipment needs for maintenance department;
assist with monitoring budget expenditures; conduct health and safety checks/inspections.
Assigned responsibilities include the assistance of Youth workers and safety staff to effectively carry out program functions.
This position is in pay schedule and range 81-04 with a starting pay of $30.00/hour - $37.17/hour, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
This position is not eligible for remote work.
This position has physical requirements, including but not limited to: walking, pushing/pulling, bending, twisting, lifting/carrying up to 75lbs. This position works within a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. The hired applicant must have the ability to work up to 16 hours per day and more than 40 hours per week, depending on operational needs. This may include weekends, holidays, and on-call hours.
QualificationsMinimally qualified applicants will have experience:
- Supervisory/lead worker experience (e.g. training, assigning duties, reviewing work, staffing process, interviewing candidates, hiring recommendations)
- Maintaining or repairing systems commonly used in building/institution complexes. (i.e. heating, cooling & refrigeration systems, electric and mechanical equipment, food service equipment, grounds equipment, security systems, building structure components, plumbing, electrical, computerized and mechanical systems, and vehicles.)
