Maintenance​/Custodian - St Michael in Worthington

Location: St Michael Parish in Worthington, Ohio

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Maintenance/Custodian to join our team and ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment. This job is more maintenance than cleaning but some cleaning is required. This vital role involves performing a variety of custodial and maintenance duties that support the overall cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our church, offices and school. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive attitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety protocols to keep our spaces welcoming and operational.

The schedule for this job is Thursday - Monday. Weekends are required.

• Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and restroom sanitation using appropriate cleaning equipment and chemical agents.
• Handle industrial cleaning duties such as floor buffing, polishing, and care using floor buffers and other specialized equipment.
• Conduct light maintenance activities such as painting, minor repairs, and inspecting facilities for safety hazards.
• Safely handle chemical agents following proper chemical handling safety procedures to ensure a healthy environment for all staff and visitors.
• Assist with heavy lifting tasks using safe lifting practices to move furniture, supplies, or equipment as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of common areas, offices, restrooms, hallways, and other designated spaces consistently throughout the day.
• Support facilities maintenance by reporting any issues related to plumbing, electrical systems or structural concerns promptly.
• Follow all safety protocols diligently to prevent accidents or injuries during custodial or maintenance activities.
• Use cleaning equipment effectively while adhering to safety standards for operation and storage.
• Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to requests for cleaning or maintenance assistance from staff or visitors.

• Prior custodial or janitorial experience in commercial or industrial settings is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with cleaning techniques including the use of floor buffers and other custodial equipment.
• Experience handling chemical agents safely in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Knowledge of sanitation standards and best practices for maintaining clean facilities.
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while lifting heavy objects or performing physical duties regularly required in custodial work.
• Previous experience in facilities maintenance or general upkeep roles is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of safety protocol adherence related to cleaning chemicals and manual handling practices.
