General Description
Fort Bridger State Historic Site maintains and interprets historic structures and remnants from its five eras of occupation—Mountain Men, Mormons, Military, Milkbarn/Motel, and Museum. The site also interprets the numerous trails that passed through Fort Bridger, including the Oregon Trail, California Trail, Mormon Pioneer Trail, Pony Express Trail, Overland Trail, Cherokee Trail, and Lincoln Highway.
Seasonal Positions AvailableEight seasonal positions are available for the summer. Three types of positions will be filled:
Interpretation, Curation, and Maintenance.
The employment season runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Some positions may begin earlier or extend later into the fall. Refer to the essential functions for each category for detailed job duties.
Essential Functions Seasonal Visitor Services Associate – Interpretation and Curation- Greet visitors, collect admission fees, and provide excellent customer service.
- Answer visitor questions and provide information about the site, including interpretation and orientation of facilities and local points of interest.
- Handle monetary transactions, including fee collection and gift shop sales.
- Reconcile cash register and perform cash handling duties.
- Perform guided tours of the site.
- Restock gift shop shelves and track inventory.
- Manage a multi-line telephone system and transfer calls to appropriate personnel.
- Assist with general administrative duties, reports, and data entry.
- Carry out opening and closing duties, cleaning, and maintenance as needed.
- Provide janitorial services in the buildings and assist with special projects and events.
- Perform routine building, grounds, and landscape maintenance, minor carpentry repairs, painting, and mowing.
- Assist with setup and teardown of facilities during special events.
- Assist staff in construction, installation, maintenance, renovation of grounds and buildings, and preventive maintenance.
- Clean and service restrooms, shelters, and buildings; remove litter from grounds, parking lots, and public areas.
- Operate and/or drive a variety of vehicles, and light and heavy equipment.
- Operate maintenance equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other equipment required in daily operations.
- Follow proper handling and safety procedures involving cleaning chemicals and fuel products, including personal protective equipment usage.
- Provide excellent customer service and answer basic questions from the public when necessary.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Minimum age of 16 years.
- Professional demeanor with excellent customer service skills.
