The States of Guernsey are looking to recruit a Mechanical and Electrical Technician to join the States Property Unit team.
States Property Unit (SPU) is responsible for all hard and soft facilities management across the Health & Social Care (HSC), Education, Sport & Culture (ESC) and Home & Corporate (H&C) estates. Its mandate is to ensure that it will provide relevant professional property services to maintain the premises within its care and will put in place service contracts to ensure that all property-related legislation and best practice is complied with.
The professional services provided by the SPU include building maintenance, surveying, mechanical and electrical services, and technical support. In addition, the SPU commissions external consultants and/or contractors as required to meet the requirements of this service standards document. To deliver on this mandate, SPU must maintain and operate a vast array of specialist mechanical and electrical assets, as well as premises and other infrastructure.
The post holder will have attained the highest levels of specialist knowledge, experience, technical skill and diagnostic capabilities, and will have received OEM training for equipment within their remit.
They will be competent and experienced in the specifying, installing, commissioning, and maintaining of equipment. They will provide tactical and strategic input to both the development and implementation of the Estate Management strategy, and in the inception and delivery of asset upgrade and replacement projects.
