General Description
Half‑time position providing maintenance and janitorial care for historic buildings, landscapes, interpretive displays, restrooms, waste removal, construction and maintenance projects, roads, sidewalks, water and sewer systems, trails, picnic and playground areas, landscaping and lawns, and other infrastructure resources at Fort Phil Kearny, Fetterman Monument, Wagon Box Fight Site, Connor Battlefield, Trail End, and LX Bar State Historic Sites as needed. Reports to the Fort Phil Kearny Superintendent and Headquarters.
Oversees seasonal employees and volunteers.
- Maintain grounds and interpretive areas, manage weeds, keep trails passable, maintain parking lots, remove trash, repair fences.
- Perform all maintenance, security, and janitorial duties at the Interpretive Center and outbuildings, including structures and signs.
- Monitor and maintain water and sewer systems, security system, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, painting, concrete work.
- Maintain and repair vehicles, camper, implements and tools; manage reporting of vehicles.
- Perform preventive maintenance; enter information into digital maintenance database.
- Schedule and oversee seasonal employees; assist with hiring process.
- Assist visitors in the bookstore by taking fees, selling merchandise, narrating site history, giving tours, answering phones, and assisting with special programs.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 0–2 years of progressive work experience in parks maintenance or 1–3 years of progressive experience.
- Knowledge of equipment repair, landscaping, building maintenance, water systems, electrical, exhibit construction, scheduling seasonal employees.
- Basic computer skills:
Good Mail, Google Suite, Microsoft Office. - Excellent customer service skills, ability to drive vehicles, lift 50 lbs.
