Preferred Qualifications- 21 years of age and in good physical health, able to lift up to 50 pounds as frequently as necessary.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Possesses knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.
- Demonstrates a genuine desire to learn during the probationary period and thereafter.
- Can follow simple oral and written directions.
- Can climb ladders, stand for extended periods, push or pull objects, walk, reach above shoulders, overhead and horizontally, and operate custodian equipment while subject to environmental conditions and hazards.
- Possesses knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems.
- Can use cleaning supplies and equipment efficiently.
- Sweeps, vacuums, buffs, strips, waxes, and dust mops assigned areas.
- Removes trash at regular intervals and as needed from rooms and buildings, placing in containers and dumpsters.
- Scrubs and cleans restrooms, including mirrors, washbasins, commodes, and sinks.
- Fills tissue, towel, and soap dispensers, and sanitizes as needed.
- Dusts furniture, walls, window sills, and other woodwork.
- Stacks cafeteria chairs and/or tables as required.
- Washes windows, walls, and woodwork; dusts Venetian blinds.
- Cleans drinking fountains.
- Maintains school grounds as needed.
- Mows lawn, trims shrubbery, cultivates flowers using hand and power tools.
- Assists with snow and ice removal, including operating tractor.
- Sets up rooms and spaces for special events.
- Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies.
- Performs basic repair work, including painting, minor plumbing, desk, chair, and locker repairs; replaces ceiling tiles and light bulbs.
- Cleans storage rooms and equipment; orders, unloads, and stores supplies and deliveries from vehicles.
- Checks freezers and coolers to ensure functional operation.
- Checks and secures school premises to protect against vandalism and theft.
- Attends in-service training to develop and improve knowledge and skills in building service work.
- Checks boilers and circulation pumps if appropriate.
- Checks exit lights, fire extinguishers, and pull stations.
- Works with HVAC and electrical systems.
- Performs related tasks as assigned by the school principal.
Terms of employment:
Full‑time.
