Facilities Operations Assistant
Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently searching for a remarkable Facilities Operations Assistant for the Hampton Inn & Suites Xenia Dayton in Xenia, Ohio.
The Facilities Operations Assistant supports the daily care, maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and appearance of the hotel property. This hands-on position assists with preventive maintenance, routine inspections, basic repairs, grounds care, pool maintenance, work-order follow-up, and general property operations.
Working alongside hotel leadership and maintenance personnel, the Facilities Operations Assistant will gain practical experience with the systems and routines required to operate a commercial property. The position is well suited for a college student, trade-school student, recent graduate, or early-career candidate interested in engineering, construction management, facilities management, property management, building systems, hospitality operations, or the skilled trades.
Ultimately, you will help maintain a safe, functional, clean, and welcoming environment for our guests and employees. Warm, knowledgeable service and helpful guidance reassure guests they have made the right choice to stay with us.
This is a regular, part-time hourly hotel position and is not part of a formal internship or management-development program.
The Facilities Operations Assistant will receive practical exposure to:
- Commercial building and hotel operations
- Preventive-maintenance planning
- Property inspections and asset care
- Pool maintenance and water-testing procedures
- Life-safety practices and documentation
- Work-order prioritization and follow-up
- Maintenance inventory and supply management
- Vendor and contractor coordination
- Cross-department hotel operations
- Facilities and engineering leadership responsibilities
Professional exposure is intended to strengthen the employee's understanding of the hospitality and facilities-management industries. It does not guarantee promotion, academic credit, future placement, or entry into a company internship or management-development program.
Qualifications and requirements include:
- High school diploma, secondary qualification, or equivalent required.
- Current college student, recent graduate, trade-school student, or early-career applicant preferred.
- Interest in engineering, construction, facilities management, property management, hospitality, building systems, or the skilled trades.
- Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, construction, landscaping, housekeeping, property operations, or a related field is helpful but not required.
- Experience with Hilton, Marriott, IHG, Wyndham, Hyatt, or similar hotel processes and standards is helpful.
- Basic familiarity with tools, equipment, mechanical work, or property maintenance is helpful but not required.
- Willingness to perform hands-on and physically active work.
- Strong attendance, dependability, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, safety procedures, and equipment guidelines.
- Ability to communicate professionally with guests, employees, vendors, and contractors.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while meeting established performance and safety standards.
- Ability to recognize maintenance concerns and promptly report matters outside the employee's training or authorization.
- Must meet all company and legal requirements for assigned duties.
- Push, pull, carry, and operate maintenance and cleaning equipment.
- Carry tools, supplies, parts, linens, and other materials throughout the hotel.
- Bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and stoop to inspect, clean, repair, or access assigned areas.
- Move throughout guestrooms, hallways, stairwells, equipment rooms, storage areas, public spaces, grounds, and exterior areas.
- Reach shelves, windows, ledges, pipes, equipment, and areas under or around furniture.
- Stand and walk continuously for extended periods while completing assigned responsibilities.
- Climb stairs and use ladders or step stools when trained and authorized.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Lift or move items within company-established limits.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment when required.
