The Custodial Services SupervisorThe Custodial Services Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and supervision of custodial services for an assigned site. This position coordinates work processes with upper management to ensure the effective daily and ongoing cleaning, sanitation, maintenance, grounds keeping, and janitorial service to the Head Start centers in accordance with established health and safety standards; ensuring that the work complies in accordance with Head Start performance standards, state licensing requirements and agency policies and procedures.
Will be required to be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues.
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, entryways, kitchen areas, and common spaces.
- Empty trash receptacles, replace liners, and maintain clean waste disposal areas throughout the facility.
- Vacuum carpets, spot clean stains, sweep, mop, and maintain all flooring surfaces.
- Clean, disinfect, and restock restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and toilet paper supplies.
- Sanitize high-touch surfaces, including doors, handles, counters, railings, and shared equipment.
- Clean interior and exterior windows, glass surfaces, and entryway doors.
- Perform periodic deep‑cleaning tasks, including carpet shampooing and floor stripping and waxing.
- Assist with kitchen sanitation, trash removal, and maintenance of kitchen-related areas.
- Secure facilities by locking doors, windows, gates, classrooms, and offices, and activating security systems.
- Conduct routine building maintenance, including replacing light bulbs, changing HVAC filters, and performing minor repairs.
- Maintain custodial storage areas and ensure cleaning supplies and facility materials are adequately stocked.
- Support grounds maintenance by keeping walkways, playgrounds, lawns, gutters, and exterior areas clean, safe, and well‑maintained.
- Assist with playground upkeep, equipment maintenance, irrigation systems, and seasonal landscaping tasks.
- Remove snow and ice from parking lots, sidewalks, playgrounds, and walkways to ensure safe access during winter weather.
- Ensure compliance with facility safety, sanitation, and maintenance standards to provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children, families, staff, and visitors.
- Collaborate with Center Management to support facility operations and respond to maintenance and safety needs as they arise.

Work requires daily standing, sitting, walking, stooping, kneeling, lifting, twisting, turning, pushing, pulling, speaking, hearing, seeing, and the ability to articulate clearly; use of hands to finger, bending and reaching.

Ability to work with personal computer for long periods of time.
Some travel to and from main office and training sites.
