Environmental Services Technician - 2nd Shift

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform thorough cleaning of assigned areas, including furniture, tile, fixtures, windows, sinks, tubs, toilets, mirrors, showers, etc.
• Execute high and low dusting of TVs, lights, walls, mop floors, elevators, stairs, clean door frames, ceiling vents, and vacuum carpet.
• Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, isolation procedures, and infection prevention standards.
• Know and use correct chemicals for different pathogens; manage EVS closet and cart.
• Report safety hazards or equipment needing repair to supervisor or Facilities.
• Maintain and restock supplies, including paper, soap, and hand sanitizer.
• Hang cubicles and drapes per department policy.
• Coordinate special project assignments (e.g., construction, wall cleaning, drapes, window washing), contact affected departments, and post informational signs.
• Move furniture, supplies, and equipment while following safety and lifting procedures.
• Mix and store chemicals properly to achieve correct dilution ratios.
• Use personal protective equipment such as safety goggles and wet floor signs to block off work areas.
• Make beds according to area needs and identify bed types.
• Use bed‑tracking phone or pager, record beds in EPIC, and remove them when occupied.
• Respond to phone or pager calls from supervisors within 5 minutes.
• Log out of EPIC and ensure dismissal rooms are ready for the next patient.
• Operate the Xenex UV Light robot in specified rooms when available.
• Return soiled and clean mops to the proper containers.
• Adhere to regulations and standards for handling, transporting, and disposing of all waste types (hazardous, infectious, sharps, confidential, recycling, regular trash, universal).
• Obtain and carry DOT certification for packaging and transporting regulated medical waste.
• Report phone or pager problems to supervisor.

• High school graduate or equivalent (preferred).
• Previous cleaning experience is helpful.

• None required; DOT certification required for regulated medical waste.

• Effectively perform scheduled floor cleaning (stripping, scrubbing, finishing, shampooing, extraction) in a timely manner, including working other shifts for annual floor maintenance.
• Perform spot cleaning of carpets, carpet bonneting, extraction, burnishing, and wet/dry vacuuming.
• Operate, understand, and maintain all cleaning equipment (extractors, vacuums, wet vac, burnisher, flatbed, etc.) safely and professionally.
• Clean equipment after use and ensure batteries are charged.

Supervised by EVS Tech3 / Team Leads, Supervisors, Manager and/or Director. Work performed according to standard practices and procedures with some independent judgment required.

$15.30 - $22.18 per hour.
