The term of this appointment will be a maximum of up to 24 months. All persons hired into Limited Term (LT) positions will be required to sign a term of employment letter specifying conditions of employment.

Hours of Work:
Up to 24 hours weekly between Thursday-Monday. Shift to be determined based on operational needs.

The ideal candidate will be able to work in outdoor/indoor environments with the potential for extreme weather conditions, work independently without direct supervision and under deadlines in a fast-paced environment, understand and follow written and verbal instructions, move up to 100lbs, and professionally interact with internal and external customers; will demonstrate problem-solving capabilities and working within a team environment.

INTRODUCTION:

Human Resources will screen applications and supplemental questionnaires. Candidates possessing the strongest skills and experience for this position will be forwarded to the hiring department for further evaluation and to determine who will be invited to the formal interview process. The candidate hired will be required to pass a drug screening, background check and may be required to pass a job-related physical evaluation.

GENERAL

PURPOSE

Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties to maintain Preserve buildings and grounds in a clean, sanitary and aesthetically pleasing manner for Preserve visitors and guests; provides support for Preserve special events; may assist other staff in performing routine maintenance and repair of Preserve facilities; and performs related duties as assigned.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:
Proper methods and procedures for cleaning and sanitizing a variety of surfaces; safe usage of cleaning materials, disinfectants, janitorial tools and equipment; use and minor maintenance of hand and power tools and equipment used in custodial and maintenance work; safety regulations, procedures and practices; proper mixingand dilution of cleansers, disinfectants and stripping agents; basic customer service practices and procedures.

Ability to:

Maintain restrooms and public use areas in a clean and sanitary condition; understand and follow oral and written instructions; complete assigned duties independently without immediate supervision; exercise sound judgment and initiative in a variety of situations within established guidelines; interact courteously with Preserve members and visitors; establish and maintain effective working relationships with Preserve staff, visitors and others encountered in the course of the work.

Experience:

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or GED and custodial and/or maintenance experience that demonstrates qualifications to perform the duties of this class; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in a museum, public venueor educational setting is preferred.

A valid Nevada driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District’s Vehicle Insurance Policy may be required for certain assignments.
