The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is looking for a Maintenance Repairman 2 who enjoys active, hands‑on work in a scenic forest setting. This role allows you to build, repair, and maintain the spaces that visitors rely on. You will use a wide range of tools and skills while supporting the mission of caring for public lands. Your efforts will help keep Loyalsock State Forest safe, welcoming, and well maintained.
This role supports the overall upkeep of equipment, facilities, and natural areas throughout Loyalsock State Forest. Your work will ensure that visitors and staff have safe, functional, and well cared-for resources. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:
Responsibilities- Sign Construction and Repair: Create and maintain carved wooden signs used across the forest
- Grounds and Facility Upkeep: Maintain lawns, landscaping, buildings, and related structures
- Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance: Repair and service tools, vehicles, and small engines to keep operations running smoothly
- Snow and Ice Removal: Clear walkways, lots, and building areas during winter conditions
- Wildfire and Emergency Support: Assist with wildfire suppression, prescribed burns, search and rescue, and other emergency responses
- Tool and Supply Management: Maintain tools, purchase materials, and support daily operational needs
- Full‑time employment
- Work hours will be between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday – Friday. Specifics about work schedules, including the possibility of an alternate work schedule, will be discussed during the interview.
- This position may require occasional overtime and travel
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.

- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
