This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical production equipment while providing day-to-day leadership and support to the maintenance team.
The Maintenance Lead serves as a key resource for maintenance personnel, production teams, and other departments to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and maintain a safe, productive work environment. This position may also assume supervisory responsibilities during the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor or during off-shift operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:Leadership & Team Support
- Provide daily guidance and support to maintenance team members.
- Coordinate maintenance work activities and prioritize repair requests.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for maintenance-related issues during assigned shifts.
- Communicate equipment concerns and operational issues to management and maintenance staff.
- Act as a liaison between Maintenance, Production, Shipping, and Sales departments.
- Report shift activities, issues, and updates to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Step into a supervisory role when needed.
Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
- Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and electrical production equipment.
- Assist in diagnosing equipment failures and implementing corrective actions.
- Support preventive maintenance (PM) programs and planned maintenance schedules.
- Help ensure production equipment is operating efficiently to meet manufacturing goals.
- Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance technicians.
Parts & Inventory Management
- Assist in identifying and sourcing replacement parts and maintenance supplies.
- Coordinate with purchasing personnel to order required materials.
- Support the management and maintenance of spare parts inventory.
- Work to minimize production downtime through proactive planning.
Safety & Quality
- Promote and enforce safe work practices and company safety policies.
- Ensure employees follow proper machine operation and forklift procedures.
- Assist in conducting routine safety meetings.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Support quality standards by ensuring maintenance work is completed accurately and effectively.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required:
- Minimum EM2 level leadership experience, with EM3-level experience preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of maintenance experience with at least one year of leadership experience as a team lead or other leadership responsibility to include one direct report.
- Must demonstrate the ability to self-manage while managing others with limited oversight during their shift.
- PLC experience desired.
- Strong electrical knowledge and troubleshooting ability with 110, 240, and 480. Combination of certifications and experience a must.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and experience working on industrial machinery required.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills desired.
- Experience working with equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to coordinate personnel and resources to meet production objectives.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply technical information.
- Basic computer skills, including:
- Work order management
- Inventory data entry
- Email communication
- Maintenance tracking systems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred
- Previous leadership, lead technician, or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting preventive maintenance programs.
- Familiarity with inventory management and parts procurement.

Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing and production facility environment. Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment, energized electrical systems, machinery, forklifts, and other industrial equipment. Frequent exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, vibration, oils, grease, and other manufacturing-related conditions.
