Operations Manager
This position is responsible for the operation of compressors, motors, cooling equipment, pumps, valves, pipelines, and other propane storage terminal related equipment. This position ensures the cost effective and efficient operation of the propane storage terminal, pipeline, and associated equipment within NGL facilities and pipelines.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:
- Operate, inspect, and maintain equipment and systems at plant facilities which includes, but is not limited to: process controls and measurement, compressors, pumps, pump stations, pressure relief systems, instrument air systems, dehydrators, emergency shutdown systems, reciprocating compressors, and NGL storage and transfer facilities in a reliable and efficient manner while in compliance with the Partnership's procedures and regulatory requirements
- Seek to optimize processing through facility by maintaining proper product specifications
- Monitor and control pressures, temperatures, flow rates, and levels to efficiently achieve desired operating results and ensure proper operation of equipment under current process conditions such as Start/Stop/Rate adjustment of equipment
- Respond to alarms and problems within the plant and take corrective measures
- Communicate with partnership control centers, business groups, and other operating groups as necessary
- Perform daily walk around inspections to identify potential risks and ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained
- Issue work permits to contractors performing work at the Terminal. This includes ensuring that pre-job safety meetings, lockout - tag-out, confined space entry, and gas tech monitoring requirements are met for all work performed at the Terminal
- Ensure that all terminal equipment is functioning properly and report failures to Supervisor
- Oversee the construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties
- Inspect, maintain, and operate pipelines, valves, transmitters, and valve station equipment in a reliable and efficient manner while in compliance with the Partnership's procedures and regulatory requirements
- Conduct Damage Prevention activities including pipeline patrols, one-calls, locating and marking pipelines, and inspecting line crossings, excavations, and other activities affecting the pipeline
- Maintain working knowledge of regulatory requirements, perform required tasks, and complete associated documentation (OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.)
- Coordinate and communicate with outside parties including landowners, public agencies, contractors, utilities, and other pipeline operators
- Actively participate and provide leadership in safety programs and initiatives.
- Provide on-call support for areas of responsibility on a rotating basis
- Perform energy isolation lockout/tagout procedures (LOTO)
- Remain knowledgeable of, and prepared to enact and coordinate the Emergency Response activities until relieved by supervisor or management personnel
- Communicate product outages and equipment downtime to supervisor, customers, and other impacted parties in a prompt fashion
- Comply with partnership safety policies and procedures
High school diploma or GED
Minimum Requirements- 0-6 Months of relevant experience
- Effectively communicate with peers and management of various levels
- Self-starter able work with little or no supervision
- Carry a pager or cell phone allowing for shift hold over or shift reassignment, as well as call out at all hours
- Able to use basic hand tools and operate basic product testing equipment
- Proficient in mathematics and able to perform all required calculations
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and written
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license for state of residence
- Must be willing and able to work as a part of team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedules, focus attention to details, and follow work rules
- Level C requires a minimum of 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience
- Level B requires a minimum of 2 - 4 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience
- Level A requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience
