Part-Time Custodian

Position

• Part‑Time Custodian – 29.5 hours per week

  Head Custodian & Director of Building Facilities

To perform custodial tasks as assigned by the Facilities Director.

Other duties may be assigned. The following are general tasks which may be expected of a temporary custodian; the Facilities Director will assign specific cleaning areas and tasks.

• Dust and mop floors
• Wet mop floors (as needed or when requested)
• Machine clean floors (as needed or when requested)
• Dust/clean under bleachers (as needed or when requested)
• Clean walls (as needed or when requested)
• Clean furniture (as needed or when requested)
• Clean white boards or Smart Boards (as needed or when requested)
• Clean windows (as needed or when requested)
• Vacuum floors

• Empty trash
• Sweep floors / wet mop floors with disinfectant
• Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, urinals, and showers
• Clean drinking fountains
• Clean mirrors (as needed or when requested)
• Clean and disinfect walls and stalls (as needed or when requested)
• Clean lockers (as needed or when requested)
• Keep hand towels, hand soap, and toilet paper containers filled

• Change ballasts
• Do "light" plumbing (fix water leaks, etc.)
• Change light bulbs (as needed)
• Sweep areas in front of gym lobbies and outdoor walks
• Remove trash from both parking lots

• High School Diploma or GED

• Language skills: ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Write routine reports and correspondence
• Speak effectively before groups of employees
• Reasoning ability: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community
• Perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, squat, stoop or kneel, reach above head or forward, and climb ladders
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., including cleaning supplies and unloading trucks
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 lbs., including salt and bulk furniture
• Push/pull bleachers, tables, and scrubbing machines

• Work indoors and outdoors
• Near or with mechanical equipment
• Occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, and sprays
• Meet deadlines with time constraints
