This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.
NATURE OF WORKUnder general supervision, commutes between multiple County buildings to perform work of routine difficulty in cleaning, custodial, and delivery duties; this position has countywide specific responsibility.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors in hallways, stairways, and offices
- Wiping, dusting, and polishing furniture and metalwork
- Cleansing and polishing woodwork, walls, windows, and blinds
- Emptying ashtrays, recycling bins, and waste paper baskets
- Straightening and arranging desks, chairs, bookcases, and other office furniture
- Cleans and disinfects/sanitizes lavatories and restrooms; cleans water fountains and wash basins
- Opens and closes doors and windows; cleans outside areas and walkways surrounding the building
- Identifies and reports facilities repair needs to supervisor
- Sorts and delivers supplies and materials; performs routine equipment maintenance
- Performs floor maintenance services such as stripping, waxing, buffing, polishing; shampooing and extracting on carpeted services
- Operates and maintains floor care equipment; loads and unloads supplies and equipment; inventories and distributes supplies and equipment throughout work area
- Performs other duties as assigned; attend reliably
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent, and two (2) years of custodial experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Arizona driver’s license
- Successful completion of a background check (County and Yuma County Sheriff’s Department)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of county policies and procedures; materials, methods, and practices used in cleaning and sanitizing buildings and grounds; occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Skills in maintaining safety standards and following written and verbal instructions
- Abilities to lift 40 pounds; work in varying extreme weather conditions; bend, kneel, squat, pull, push repeatedly; establish and maintain effective working relationships; stand, bend, walk, stoop; perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; 30% bending, 20% walking, 20% stooping and 30% standing; performed under varying weather conditions; may be exposed to chemical fumes and hazardous materials.
