Summary
We are looking for a Part‑time General Maintenance Worker to assist the City of Yuma’s water meter replacement program and projects related to Lead Service Line Inventory (LSLI) and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). The role requires using tools and equipment to excavate, remove, and install meters while maintaining compliance with city standards.
Responsibilities- Assist with general labor and maintenance tasks under close supervision.
- Perform various manual labor tasks in cleaning, maintenance, and repair of municipal buildings, facilities, grounds, streets, and parks; provide basic upkeep of vehicles and transport as required.
- Conduct fire hydrant testing and data input.
- Follow all safety regulations and procedures; report safety hazards, equipment problems, and emergencies.
- Learn a variety of general maintenance work methods and procedures, and operate specialized tools and equipment.
- Demonstrate courteous and cooperative behavior toward citizens, visitors, and City staff; promote City goals and comply with all City policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of work‑related issues and City information.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required). Some experience in general maintenance preferred.
- Valid Arizona State Driver’s License (required).
- Basic skills in using tools safely and following verbal and written instructions.
Knowledge of city policies and procedures; occupational hazards and safety precautions; operating basic tools safely; following verbal and written instructions and procedures.
Physical Demands and Working EnvironmentWork is performed indoors and outdoors at various sites; requires bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting objects; exposure to safety hazards and dangerous tools; safety precautions and use of safety equipment required.
