Canadian International School, Bangalore:
Located 30 minutes north of Bangalore City Center in the Karnataka Province in south-west India, Canadian International School (CIS) is an accredited Pre-K - 12th Grade private school, with students from 34 countries worldwide currently enrolled. We offer the internationally-renowned Cambridge, IGCSE, and International Baccalaureate Diploma to students, as well as our own in-house curriculum programs.
Accredited Pre-K - 12th Grade Private School Curriculum
Early Years Program (Pre-K, Junior K, & Senior K)
Each child has a unique pattern and timing of growth and development. The curriculum at CIS and the teachers' interactions are responsive to individual differences in ability and interest. Differing levels of ability, development, learning styles and intelligence amongst children are expected, accepted and used to design experiences in all developmental areas.
The program in a child-centered, activity-oriented environment provides opportunities for the child to:

- Encourage and provide opportunities for learning through play

Elementary School Program (Grades 1 - 5)
The Elementary school is a student-centered environment which is committed to appreciating and utilizing our students' strengths and individuality through collaborative teamwork to achieve academic excellence and to promote a foundation for life-long learning.
We aim to provide an involved community of students and families happily engaged in active learning in an environment that is tranquil and purposeful. We envision students who are confident in their academic success and are developing socially, physically and psychologically.

Cambridge Secondary 1 Program (Grades 6 to 8)
The progression from Elementary curriculum to Middle School curriculum is smooth.CIS continues with the Ontario curriculum through the middle school years (grades 6-8). The Ontario curriculum is followed in physical education, information communication and technology, social studies, music, drama, and in the french language classes.
Students are offered French or Hindi as their additional language in grade 6, with Mandarin added as a choice in grade 7, and Spanish added in grade 8. Incorporating our host country culture, India, is encouraged in all studies at CIS. These four languages are offered into the IGCSE programme of grades 9 and 10.
IGCSE Program (Grades 9 and 10)
Universities and colleges worldwide recognise the IGCSE. CIS offers for our Grade 9 and 10 students, the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) provided by University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).
The two-year IGCSE programme is the world's most popular international qualification for 14-16 year olds. It develops students' skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving, giving them excellent preparation for their next steps in education, progression to the IB Diploma, and equips them with skills for immediate employment.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (Grades 11 & 12)
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is a demanding pre-university course of study, designed for highly motivated students in the Grade 11 and 12. In preparation for success in universities, the curriculum offers opportunities to explore subjects in depth through a rigorous and internationally recognized school diploma programme.
Strong emphasis is placed on nurturing critical reflection, inquiry, thought, effective communication, and striking physical and emotional balance to achieve a sense of personal well-being. Students develop their ability to appropriately and expertly question established norms and values, thus developing and questioning their own position as well.
Canadian International School Diploma (Grades 11 & 12)
An alternative to the IB Diploma program is the Canadian International School Diploma, a program curated in-house. This diploma is also recognized internationally and leads to admission in post secondary institutions. Our students are eligible to receive the Canadian International School Diploma on the successful completion of year 12.
In order to graduate from high school, a student must meet the following requirements:
18 Compulsory Credits:
- 4 Years of Mathematics
- 4 Years of Science
- 4 Years of English
- 2 years of a foreign language
- 2 years of at least one Social Science-History, Geography, Economics
- 2 Credits in Vocational Training/Arts/Technology
10 Additional Credits:
- 1 Credit in PE/Health
- 2 Credits in the Arts/Technology-Music, Drama or Visual Art, Computer Science or Technology
- 2 Credits in any other Science
- 2 Credits in a Foreign Language
- 2 Credits in a Social Science-History, Economics, Business Studies
