Mother Tongue Center based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates offers specialized courses for instructors to develop their skills in teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speakers and communicate with the people of other cultures. It also provides practical solutions for what they need for cross-cultural communication and professional performance to make a success of the education process.
The Center′s Administration has been concerned with the Arabic language curricula for many years, as it has examined and checked the existing and printed curricula used in teaching Arabic to foreigners in various countries. When the Center was established, the Curriculum Section was created to be specialized in checking and developing Arabic language curricula. Therefore, the Section has worked on studying, revising, utilizing and upgrading the existing curricula.
The Center has recently managed to develop an innovative curriculum for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. It has crystallized and tested the new curriculum on a large number of students. Also, in cooperation with the biggest Arabic linguists, the Center oversees, reviews and proofreads every curriculum it produces before, during and after the development process. Many educational curricula have been developed in line with this method.The Center offers Arabic courses for the different levels and needs through the Mother Tongue Series for Teaching Arabic to non-native speakers.
The courses are divided according to the four levels of education. Each level covers specific aspects of the Arabic Language required to live and work within an Arab environment. Here are the benefits of completing every level.
Beginner Level:
Contains two books and takes five courses (180 hours) to finish during them learning the Arabic letters with a lots of words and idioms reading, writing, speaking and listening, the student can -after this level- express himself in simple words.
Elementary:
Contains three books and four courses (144 hours) teaches the student composing sentences in the different ways, and improve his ability to understand the read materials and can after that communicate in Arabic in acceptable way.
Intermediate:
Contains three books and four courses (144 hours) the student learns meanwhile how to compose short articles, link sentences to each other, growth in the language knowledge, allow to communicate with Arabic people very well.
Advanced:
Contains two books and four courses (120 hours) teaches the student writing long articles and easily discuss topics, the student can deal with the Arabic people fluently, and handle the Arabic references, books and newspapers. And understand lectures and seminars very well.
