The overall aim of this programme leading to the award of Higher Certificate in Science in Computing in Information Technology, is to provide its learners with the necessary theoretical and practical skills, knowledge and competence, to gain a comprehensive and specialised, strong foundation and understanding of the area of Computing in Information Technology. It is envisioned that graduates will be able to fulfil a wide range of entry-level roles within the industry, and/or engage in further study in a wide range of areas within Computing and Information Technology at Level 7 and Level 8, to further develop their careers.

Diploma in ICT Systems Support
This full-time programme is ideal for any learner with an interest and motivation to embark on a Computing career, specifically within the areas of Networking and Systems Administration. It provides a strong introductory foundation to these pertinent, practical areas with the field of Computing and Information Technology. No pre-requisite knowledge of Networking and Systems Administration is required to commence this course, but any previous knowledge, skills or competence in the area would be advantageous.

CompTIA A+ Certification
The Comp TIA A+ certification is the industry standard for validating vendor-neutral skills expected of an entry -level computer technician. Those holding the A+ certification have a broad base of knowledge and competency in core hardware and operating system technologies including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventative maintenance, and basic networking. A+ opens the door to an exciting career in computer technology at an affordable price. A+ certification is the perfect launch pad into other more challenging careers in information technology.

Cisco CCNA Certification

Microsoft MCSA Certification
Microsoft's MCSA certification programme is a globally recognised industry certification, offered by Microsoft. The MCSA is a natural progressor for those who have completed the A+ and Network+ certifications and both these exams can be used as credit towards attaining the MCSA certificate.

To acquire the MCSA, candidates must complete 4 examinations - Windows administration technologies. In the process of attaining the MCSA, candidates will acquire the MCP certificate and they can use the MCSA certification as a pre-cursor to the MCSE certificate.

This course will provide individuals with the knowledge necessary to understand and identify the tasks involved in supporting Windows 2003 networks and will provide an overview of networking concepts and how they are implemented in Windows 2003.

PC Maintenance and Repair
The aim of the course is to give attendees hands-on practical experience in all aspects of computer repair including assembling, configuring, upgrading and repairing IBM compatible PCs. Troubleshooting hardware and software problems arising from complex configurations of the modern commercial PC will be dealt with.

The course will include exercises including disassembling a PC, reinstalling and configuring all components, motherboard, adaptor cards, hard disk, floppy disk and CD ROM. PC memory and its expansion will also be covered as well as, the configuration and troubleshooting of IRQ's, I/O and memory addresses and adaptor cards. Specific methods will be covered allowing users to identify arising hardware and software problems.

Introduction to Computer Programming
The aim of this course is to teach newcomers the basics of programming using JAVA. The course aims at improving reasoning abilities in order to solve problems commonly encountered when writing programs and help develop the skills necessary to structure any program in a logical manner. Trainees will learn about data abstraction, modular program design, structured programming techniques. The course is suitable for anyone who wishes to learn to write structured computer programs and understand the methodology needed to manage complex programming tasks. It serves as an excellent introduction to the field of programming, giving attendees a taste of java essentials allowing for enhanced web page design and development of cross platform applications. The course is also ideal for those wishing to go on to program professionally in Java.
