Elementary School:

The lower elementary consists of grades Pre-K3 – 2nd grade while the upper elementary consists of grades 3-5. The elementary curriculum is challenging, while being intellectually and developmentally appropriate. Dedicated, nurturing teachers are committed to providing our students with the finest educational opportunities. Core subjects that lay the foundation for a quality education are enhanced with weekly classes in our science, computer, foreign language, art, and music labs. Visits to our state-of-the-art library along with a strong emphasis in physical education add to an exceptional education for the elementary child.

Middle School:
Saint James Middle School classrooms are exciting, active places where students ask questions and pursue solutions to problems they have helped to identify. Our middle school teachers use many different teaching strategies such as hands-on laboratory experiments, individual and group projects, problem solving activities, cooperative learning groups, lectures, demonstrations, field trips, and utilization of community resources.

The content studies and activities students engage in help them acquire a balance of fundamental skills and essential knowledge while developing positive attitudes about learning and themselves. Increasingly, research studies support the effectiveness of middle school programs in improving students' academic achievement and overall development.

Exploratory classes in such areas as art, music, technology, drama, forensics, foreign languages, and personal development offer all students opportunities to explore new areas, pursue interests and identify aptitudes. This provides some confidence with their talents before they make choices in high school. A variety of activities are also provided in clubs, intramurals, student government, and community service projects.

High School:
High School is an exciting time in a young person’s life. Goals are set, challenges are confronted and decisions are made that will impact the rest of their lives. At Saint James School we welcome the opportunity to help our students grow and learn and we enjoy the process of prodding, encouraging and supporting them along the path from adolescence to young adulthood. We focus on student achievement and on the development of a reservoir of skills that will impact success in college and in life. We want to prepare students for the academic rigors of college but we also want to instill in them a desire and an ability to pursue their passions and interests while they are there.
