Kent Place School:
Kent Place School, located in Summit, Union County, New Jersey (20 miles west of New York City), is an all-girls kindergarten through 12 independent college-preparatory day school (with a coeducational nursery and pre-kindergarten). The academic program at Kent Place challenges girls, inspires their love of learning and offers them the best education possible. Our curriculum emphasizes reading, writing and analytical skills through a broad course of study in math, sciences, technology and the humanities, enriched by experiences in the fine arts and athletics. Our faculty members are masters in their fields, passionate about sharing their knowledge and committed to working with students one-on-one. At every grade level the classes are small, allowing each girl to contribute and be heard.
Kent Place is an independent, nonsectarian, college-preparatory day school which, for over 100 years, has provided a superior education for young women who demonstrate strong scholastic and creative ability. Our mission is to offer students of diverse backgrounds, in nursery school through grade twelve, an academically rigorous curriculum in a caring atmosphere; to encourage them to contribute to and find success in this challenging program; to inspire young women to leadership; and to strengthen moral awareness. Committed to a liberal arts education that combines tradition and innovation, Kent Place provides the stimulus for each student to achieve her full academic, physical, and creative potential; to love learning; to gain confidence; to live responsibly; to develop respect for herself and others in the global community.
Global Travel at KPS:
Kent Place students have a number of opportunities for travel in Middle and Upper School. These experiences range from language and cultural immersion to student exchange and service learning options. Students view these experiences as life-changing and part of the process of preparing them to live as citizens of the world.
Kent Place has a strong tradition of commitment to community service, beginning with our youngest students in Primary School. Their recent projects have included collecting children’s hats, mittens and scarves during the holiday season and school supplies for the American Red Cross. More than 90 percent of Middle and Upper School students volunteer each year to support a variety of community efforts. They tutor children at the YMCA, work at area food banks, distribute food and clothing to the homeless in New York City, and serve in hospitals, on first aid squads and in soup kitchens.
