As befits an academy, our middle school curriculum incorporates extensive language instruction, Science Lab, Algebra I & II and Honors Literature. The students use technology throughout the curriculum and lessons are integrated across subjects. As an example, when 6th grade studied ancient Egypt in social studies, they also recorded an Egyptian "News Report" via webcast in technology class, made sarcophagi in art, and mummified chicken in the science lab.

The whole school has access to wireless laptops, classroom computers, and a state-of-the-art computer lab complete with distance-learning capabilities to ensure technology integration throughout the grades.

Our Early Childhood curriculum incorporates all the specials the children in K through 8 receive. They enjoy Spanish with the Spanish teacher, art with the art teacher, music with the music teacher, gym with the physical education teacher, and technology in the computer lab with the technology teacher. In addition, religion is a core subject at Assumption Academy which they receive every day in their classrooms.

Before / After School Care:

Image of Catholic School in Bergen County, New JerseyAssumption Academy is licensed by the State of New Jersey to provide Before and After Care for students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Our philosophy is to provide a place where the children will receive quality care in a safe, well-maintained and pleasant environment.

Before Care is provided for those students whose parents need an early start, and is a quiet time for children to get ready for their school day. After Care includes time for homework assignments, with assistance if necessary from a staff member, and indoor or outdoor playtime. The students will have monitored access to computers with internet service.

Before Care is held in the library and children are escorted from Before Care to the cafeteria when it is time for their teachers to bring them to their classrooms. After Care begins in the cafeteria, and students are escorted there by their classroom teacher or aide.

Before and After Care is staffed with teachers from the Academy and other long-time approved caregivers who meet the necessary standards. A child can only be released to a parent or to a person authorized, in writing, by a parent. Authorized individuals must show identification to pick-up a child.
