Day & Boarding School programs (Pre-K through High School)

Lower School Program:

At Montverde Academy lower school, it is our desire to stimulate minds and instill a joy for learning in children that will last a lifetime. The pre-school and elementary school years are a time for students to develop a strong academic foundation in a positive, nurturing environment. The lower school (Pre-K3 through Grade 5) curriculum is designed to exceed the expectations of the Florida Department of Education's Sunshine State Standards, therefore students are continually learning at an accelerated level.

Our language arts program, Imagine It!, is pPhoto of College Prep Day & Boarding School in Orlando FL arearoviding our students with a comprehensive language arts experience. The thorough nature of the program provides instruction in reading, grammar-syntax, vocabulary-spelling and writing within the overall language arts objectives at each grade level. There is also a consistency in the format of the curriculum from grade level to grade level that will make for a positive transition as our students progress each year.

Our math curriculum is Saxon Math. This program offers a very thorough approach to basic mathematic concepts. It also offers a continuing review of previously learned concepts throughout the entire year. Again, the comprehensive nature of this program allows our students an easy transition from grade level to grade level, even into the middle school with Saxon Math being used in the 6th and 7th grades.

The lower school science curriculum is Science and Technology for Children published by Carolina Biological Supply Company. The Science and Technology for Children curriculum provides hands-on experiences to engage elementary students in the process of science education. This curriculum introduces students to life, earth, physical science and technology at the Kindergarten through the fifth grade level. Developed by leaders in the field of both science and education from the National Science Resource Center, which is operated by the Smithsonian Institution, this curriculum was created to raise the level of science teaching by motivating children with interesting age appropriate experimentation.

Houghton Mifflin Social Studies is the basis of our social studies program. Beginning in Kindergarten and progressing through fifth grade, our students will learn about neighborhoods, communities, states and regions, United States history, United States government, world history, world cultures, geography and current events. This curriculum provides broad-based, age-appropriate instruction, with hands-on activities to reinforce concepts and skills.

Middle School Program:
The Montverde Academy Middle School division consists of Grades 6, 7 and 8. At the middle school of Montverde Academy, the faculty and staff are committed to continue to develop the academic foundation and maintain the excitement for education that was instilled at the lower school division. Every effort is made to understand each student´s particular learning style.

The teachers use visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile teaching methods in thImage of College Prep Day & Boarding School in Orlando FL areae classrooms in order to engage, motivate, and stimulate each student. Middle school students will be expected to be more independent and accept more responsibilities as they grow.
