Montessori Children’s House:
Montessori Children’s House, located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, is a traditional Montessori pre-school and Kindergarten educating children ages 2 1/2 to 8 years of age. We aim to provide our young students with a solid learning foundation by tailoring lessons to each child’s needs and interests using a complete Montessori curriculum. Our ratio is 1:8 students per teacher. This is essential in a Montessori class since it allows for individual attention of each student and assures that each student is provided with a full Montessori experience.
Dr. Maria Montessori, Italy’s first female physician, developed her philosophy of child growth through careful observation of children. Through the years she experimented with different teaching material and educational methods. Using the child as her text book she, set about developing her own philosophies and educational equipment. Dr. Montessori proved that the years from three through six are a particularly “sensitive” period, and if the school promotes these “sensitive” periods the child’s mind will develop from within. Many of these sensitive desires completely disappear by the time the child reaches the traditional school age of six.
Our Teachers:
All teachers at Montessori Children’s House II have been specifically trained in the Montessori Method of education and philosophy.
