ISSOS, Summer School at Yale University, Connecticut (Paused for 2026):
• Join us at ISSOS, for a 3-week residential debate summer program on the campus of prestigious Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut (in New England, northeastern USA). ISSOS provides U.S. and international students (of ages 13 – 18 years old) the choice of one academic and one elective program at three university campuses in the United States and the UK.

• As entry into the world’s leading colleges and universities becomes increasingly competitive, many top institutions now demand that applicants have the ability to think critically and to articulate their views through persuasive reasoning.

• The ability and confidence to debate and communicate your thoughts effectively is a highly respected and hugely beneficial academic skill for any person to posses, and it encourages students to express themselves with confidence and flair, both academically and in all aspects of their lives.

• In Connecticut, students stay in a centrally-located, traditional Yale University College so that students can enjoy the stunning architecture as well as a number of lawns where they can relax outdoors, read a book or play sports with new friends.

Debating Summer School:
• This three-week debate program offers both experienced or inexperienced students in debating the opportunity to immerse themselves in the exciting academic world of debate.

• Whether complete beginners or seasoned debaters, our summer students benefit from expert tuition in the art of public speaking, covering all aspects of debate including confidence, delivery, organisation, evidence analysis, argument invention, persuasive reasoning and debating theory.

• The program is guaranteed to inspire students to discover their voice, and to enhance and develop their skills as well as the critical confidence to use it!

- Learn techniques from leading debate coaches
- Take part in energetic debates on exciting contemporary issues
- Learn valuable skills including critical thinking and persuasive reasoning
- Debate at the historic Yale University debating chambers

• Combining interactive workshops with professional coaching and a variety of formal and informal debating opportunities, you will be able to take part in a stimulating experience second to none.

• The workshops range from the most basic of introductions and public speaking techniques to advanced argument theory, lead by leading debates coaches who make sure all students are actively debating daily.

• Students also choose one Elective Program: Film, Theatre, Photography, Outdoor Leadership, or Tennis.
