English Language Classes in Boca Raton FL:
For beginner to advanced learners
Our English courses consist of five subject areas: Grammar, Reading, Writing, Listening, and Conversation. Students in the higher levels who qualify with a pre-test score may choose to enroll in a TOEFL Preparation class or an IELTS Preparation class instead of the Conversation class.
• Conversation:
This class is designed to rapidly increase your level of fluency in English. Through activities such as topical discussion, situational conversation, oral presentations and note-taking, you will strengthen their English vocabulary and learn Standard American English pronunciation and intonation.
• Listening:
Improve your listening skills through using a variety of audio lessons that increase in difficulty and length as the student progresses. Topics are of academic and current interest and take the form of university lectures, podcasts, and recorded interviews.
• Reading:
Reading classes are designed to increase students' abilities through the use of academic reading selections in class and assigned novels, short stories, and essays outside of class. Instructors help students discover new vocabulary; in addition, students learn to analyze and respond to the topics raised by the authors.
• Writing:
Learn academic writing through comprehensive study and practice. Building on your abilities as the class progresses, you learn to organize your ideas and to create sentences, paragraphs, and essays.
• Grammar:
Our highly-interactive English grammar classes allow you to learn in a more real-life atmosphere. Your progress will be measured by evaluations given during the semester.
• Friday Afternoon Elective Sessions:
We offer optional, non-academic short courses may be offered at no additional cost for an hour and a half for a block of up to four Fridays during the term.
Elective themes vary depending on your interest, and may include topics such as Pronunciation, Business English, Current Events, ESOL Technology, or Music in English.
English Language Exam Preparation:
• TOEFL Preparation Course:
Offered to students in Levels 4 and 5 who pass a qualifying exam:
An internationally-recognized exam that measures the English language proficiency of non-native speakers, TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a requirement for international students wishing to attend a university or college in the USA or other English-speaking countries. It evaluates your ability to use English as it is written, spoken and heard in an academic environment. In addition, it is a valuable tool for those who wish to apply for professional licensure or certification to gain marketability in an English-speaking job market.
Our TOEFL Preparation classes can greatly increase your chances of achieving a successful score on the TOEFL exam. Through the practice of various test questions, learning test-taking strategies, and analyzing sections of the exam, you gain valuable tools for success and approach the exam with greater confidence.
• IELTS Preparation Course:
Offered to students in Levels 4 and 5 who pass a qualifying exam. Students in Level 3 may also qualify for this comprehensive course.
The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Exam is an internationally-recognized alternative to the TOEFL that is now accepted at many American and other English-speaking universities as proof of the English ability of non-native speakers.
In our IELTS Preparation classes, you are guided through the different sections of the exam, learning and practicing test-taking strategies to improve scores.
In the past four years alone, many of our students have successfully used the knowledge they have gained in our test preparation courses to improve their standardized test.
