SF State School of Nursing:
Conveniently situated in southwestern San Francisco, the San Francisco State University School of Nursing provides quality bachelor degrees and masters programs in nursing. Our comprehensive undergraduate and graduate nursing programs are designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to meet the healthcare needs of individuals, families, and communities with diverse populations. All students, regardless of their chosen emphasis, will complete community health practicums (work placement) in the pre-licensure phase of their program. They graduate with a strong foundation of knowledge from nursing and other disciplines such as sociology, psychology, anthropology, and philosophy.
Undergraduate & Graduate Nursing Degree Programs:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree
Program Duration: 2 years. Entry Admissions in Fall and Spring
Open to California residents who are not registered nurses, this is a prelicensure program for entry into the nursing profession. It also provides the basis for leadership and graduate education in nursing.
It aims to prepare you to take the national licensing exam to become a registered nurse (NCLEX-RN), and successful graduates are eligible to take this exam.

Graduates may find work as staff nurses in the following areas of professional nursing practice: pediatrics, maternity, medical-surgical nursing, psychiatric/mental health, gerontology, and public/community health nursing.
Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN)
Applicants must be eligible for Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. Spring Entry Admission.
Designed for registered nurses who have an Associate Degree or Diploma, this bachelor degree program can be studied full-time or part-time. It is possible to complete this program in 1.5 years through full-time study if you meet University General Education (GE) and other degree requirements.
You can receive credit for previous course work and our flexible scheduling is ideal for working nurses.

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Degree
Program Duration: 2 years
Designed for California registered nurses who want to pursue advanced practice nursing education, this masters program includes clinical practice experiences throughout the curriculum. All students complete a thesis or applied research culminating experience.

Entry Level Master of Science in Nursing
Course Duration: 6 semesters.
Graduates of this program will earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
This program aims to prepare you for the national licensing exam (NCLEX-RN) to become a Registered Nurse. After successful completion of four semesters, you are eligible for the NCLEX-RN. The program culminates with a master’s thesis or an applied research course.

Accelerated Entry Level Master of Science in Nursing
Program Duration: 2 year full-time cohort-based program
Graduates of this program will earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). This School of Nursing/Extended Learning program is open to both California and other U.S. residents.
It is designed for individuals who wish to enter the nursing profession and possess a non-nursing bachelor’s degree. The two-year program prepares you to become eligible for the national RN licensing exam (NCLEX-RN) after completion of 1.5 years of study.
It includes summer sessions, and culminates with a nursing applied research course or a master’s thesis.
