Queen's School of English:
Located on the north-east shore of Lake Ontario, 2.5 hours east of Toronto, Queen's School of English (QSoE) offers a variety of English as a Second Language (ESL) programs to students from around the globe. Prepare for university or college, learn English for work, or experience Canadian culture. Courses include intensive academic English, summer or winter short-term programs, and tailored / private English options. Queen’s School of English provides a thorough test before the first day of classes, which will determine your placement at the appropriate level.
English Language Programs:
The proficiency that students gain in our English courses is beneficial in any field of study or profession.
English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
- 22.5 hours of classroom instruction per week.
An intensive full-time English language program that prepares students for university or college studies in English.
Canadian Academic English Experience (CAEE)
- Duration: 3 weeks
Offers an exciting opportunity to experience the Canadian academic context in the late summer or early spring.
Canadian English Experience (CEE)
- Duration: 3 or 4 weeks
Offers an exciting opportunity to experience Canada in the summer or winter while learning English.
QBridge - English Language Bridging Pathway to Queen's University:
- Duration: Academic year or full summer (accelerated)
University preparation program for students who have already received an offer of admission to an undergraduate program at Queen's University, but are required to complete additional sessions of English language training at the School of English.
Tailored English Language Programs:
- Including private / one-on-one courses
Offers customized programs for groups, institutions and individuals. Class sizes, levels, program content and duration can be tailored to student's needs.
General course features include:
• Students in our programs receive formal instruction in integrated classes for all four language skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
• Class size may vary from session to session but is generally between 12 and 17 students (average class size: 15).
• All students sign a formal pledge promising to speak only English in class, on campus, on school activities, in residence and in homestay.
• Our students are registered as students at Queen's University and may use all of the university facilities provided for Queen's students.
• Students are encouraged to participate in the numerous socio-cultural activities designed to improve their English skills.
