Institute of Public Administration - IPA:
The Institute of Public Administration is the Irish national centre for development of best practice in public administration and public management. Our training and education programmes are tailored to the needs of public servants. The IPA also ensures that the distant student, whether at undergraduate or postgraduate level, is supported in their studies through attendance at seminars and tutorials, contact with academic staff through e-mail and telephone help-lines and library services which can be accessed electronically and at a distance.

Diploma in Public Management (DPM)
The Diploma in Public Management is a two-year part-time programme that combines the fundamentals of business, explored in the first year, with instruction in one of four specific steams. Students thus extend their general understanding of the key elemens of business practice while obtaining specialised knowledge about an area of particular interest to them. Students who gain an average of 40 per cent or higher in the final examination can enter the third year of the BA (Hons).

The Diploma in Business Studies is a two-year part-time Programme that combines the fundamentals of business, explored in the first year, with instruction in one of four specific streams. Students thus extend their general understanding of the key elements of business practice while obtaining specialised knowledge about an area of particular interest to them. Students who again an average of 40 per cent or higher in the examination can, if they wish, proceed to the third year of the Bachelor of Business Studies (Hons).

Higher Diploma in Public Management (HDPM)
The Higher Diploma is a one-year, part-time programme that analyses public management issues using models and concepts from the social sciences and quantitative disciplines. It aims to raise the level of analysis in Irish public management and to development more efficient and resourceful public sector managers. The programme is divided into two semesters, each of which includes three subjects. Each semester is self-contained and the programme can be commenced in either autumn or spring. Students who achieve an honours award can, if they choose, gain admission to Year 2 of the MA Programme.
