United International College, London:
UIC (United International College) is a privately owned language school situated in the heart of London offering evening classes in French. We offer a wide choice of French language courses. Lessons include a balance of conversation, listening, pronunciation, grammar to help you survive and communicate in everyday situations in French speaking countries. As well as group classes we also offer individual tuition, weekend classes and we teach French in companies.
- French courses at 8 levels from Beginner to Advanced
- Weekend French classes
- Private French lessons
- Corporate French training
The classes are highly interactive with the focus on speaking and listening and with our small classes (maximum 12 average 9) there is plenty of opportunity to speak. All the French teachers are native speakers and all have a formal teaching qualification. It is also possible to set up an exchange conversations session with French-speaking students to give you a better opportunity to practise your speaking skills.
Teaching Method:
With the aid of a text book, the syllabus aims to provide useful, relevant language using up-to-date and interesting materials, as well as encouraging participants to practise the language to help confidence and develop fluency.
We use an interactive method of teaching based on learning by practising. That means that grammar is covered as much as possible by using practical situations, so speaking and actively using the language is central. Successfully implementing the interactive method totally depends on the personal attention your teacher is able to give you.
A large part of the study material is presented in the form of practical activities and exercises through which you will learn to understand and speak French almost without noticing. In class, we make use of videos and other audio-visual materials. Naturally you will also be set weekly homework!
French is widely used throughout the world - by around 80 million people as a first language and by many many more as a further language. It is also still the most widely taught language at school in England. Students coming to study French with us are often learning to go on holiday in France, to do business in France, or just to carry on form where they left off at school - sometimes many years ago. Whatever the reasons studying one of our French courses will help you to achieve your goals.
