In addition, we offer private French lessons if you want to make faster progress or have a particular area of French you want to focus on. These can be scheduled for times that best suit you. International House London offers the following French courses:
11-week General French Evening Courses at 8 levels:
French language teaching at International House is dynamic and interactive. Your teacher will speak in French and use presentations, group discussions and authentic French material to build your understanding. We will assess your ability at lesson one, as well as monitoring your progress throughout the course, to make sure you are studying French at the right level.
- Beginner French:
You will study French in a small group and your teacher will use lots of interactive devices to help you understand basic words and phrases. Our beginner French classes are an excellent introduction to the language, with lots of opportunity in class for French conversation practice and listening tasks.
- Beginners Continuation French:
You will study in a small group and your teacher will use lots of interactive devices to help you understand basic words and phrases as you practise simple French conversation. This level of French tuition is ideal if you have already completed a Beginners French course, or introductory level course.
Elementary French:
- This level of French tuition is ideal if you have already completed a Beginners French course, or introductory level course. You will study in a small group, with lots of pair work and tasks to practise the French conversation skills you need for real-life scenarios.
- Elementary Continuation French:
This level of French tuition is ideal if you have studied some French in the past. You will study in a small group, with lots of pair work and tasks to practise the French conversation skills you need for real-life scenarios.
- Pre Intermediate French:
This level of French tuition is ideal if you have studied French in the past, and can communicate in simple everyday situations.
- Intermediate French:
This level of French tuition is ideal if you can already communicate in everyday situations and discuss common topics.
- Upper Intermediate French:
This level of French tuition is ideal if you can already communicate in a wide range of situations with quite a large vocabulary. You can progress to advanced French as your fluency improves.
- Advanced French:
Advanced French is suitable if you already have the French language skills to deal with highly specialised tasks.
Survival French Classes (5 weeks):
Survival French language classes will introduce you to key words and phrases to get more out of a holiday or business trip. One lesson a week is ideal if you want to learn to speak French for the first time. However, you can study Survival French twice a week if you prefer. We focus on simple French conversation skills to help give you practical language skills for travelling and socialising. Each lesson develops a language skill for a different tourist scenario. The course runs once a week on Monday evenings from 6.30-8.30pm for five weeks (10 lessons). The average class size is 6-8 students (maximum 14) and the minimum entry age is 16 years old.
Private French Lessons:
We offer one-to-one French training for individuals or for closed corporate groups. One-to-one French tuition offers a personalised learning structure to help you make faster progress with the language. One-to-one tuition can be a great option if you are moving abroad, travelling, working with overseas colleagues, or need to communicate more fluently with a partner and their family. Individual tuition is open to all levels, from beginners French through to advanced speakers.
Our highly experienced teachers are native speakers with a social and cultural awareness of language use. We conduct a pre-course analysis of your needs to build the tuition structure to your exact requirements. You can choose to focus on general or business language skills. Tuition can be purchased by the hour (minimum booking 1.5 hours), and tuition can be provided at IH London or in-company.
