Margarida`s School was started in 1981 by Margarida Alberty. Margarida has dedicated 27 years to making Portuguese lessons enjoyable for newcomers to Portugal. Going beyond the textbook material is what makes learning at Margarida`s School unique. Creative teaching tools, such as board games and flash cards are used to reinforce grammar as well as vocabulary. You can also learn about Portuguese history, poetry, music, customs and culture. There are even school outings ranging from nights at the Fado to sightseeing in Lisbon.

Methodology:

The backbone to Margarida`s learning system is the curriculum text books which Margarida wrote herself. There are 4 levels with one thing in common - the text books are imaginative and fun and get you speaking quickly and correctly. Using the books in class is part of the process that students go through when they study at Margarida’s School. We offer free pronunciation and culture classes so that the students can better intergrade in their new culture.

Courses:

Group Portuguese Courses; One-to-One Portuguese Lessons; Regular Portuguese Classes; Intensive Portuguese Courses; Portuguese Classes for Foreign Children; Summer Portuguese Courses.

Teachers:

There are 28 teachers at the school. Five are teaching "Portuguese for Foreigners". They are qualified, highly experienced and patient teachers.
All other languages are taught by native speaking teachers, also qualified and experienced teachers.

Margarida Alberty is the founder of the school. Apart from Portuguese she speaks 7 other languages and has based her teaching methods on her own experiences of learning a new language. Her slogan is "Portuguese is fun".
