Aim:
Our aim is to meet our students’ aspirations in placing them at their choice of university. Leaving home for the first time is always difficult and this is particularly true if “home” is thousands of miles away and in a strange country with a different culture.
Recognising this, we aim to settle our students into their new environment as quickly as possible - help them to adjust to their new surroundings and prepare them for their time at university.
Sixth Form; Pre-University Foundation Programmes; GCE A-Levels; GCSE’s. As a university preparation college, our objective is to get you, the student to the best university based on your abilities. You will achieve this either through the study of A-Levels or Pre-University Foundation Programmes. We welcome international students.
We are approachable, expert, supportive and firmly committed to ensuring that all our students fulfil their potential and pursue their chosen careers. Proud as we are of our past academic record, we cannot rest on our laurels. The world is rapidly changing and we are therefore continually reviewing our courses to ensure that we meet the needs of tomorrow’s professionals, whether they are doctors, engineers, lawyers or businessmen.
Cambridge Seminars has a relaxed informal atmosphere where students are treated as adults. Typically, students are required to attend between 16-20 hours of classroom per working week (Monday to Friday). The college lays strong emphasis on class attendance and expects each student to ensure they attend each timetabled class. Failure to attend classes will have an immediate and detrimental affect on the students study programme. All classes are supervised and you will be expected to complete all homework and coursework assignments that are given. Attendance in class is considered part of the final assessment for many of our programmes.
The college is happy to arrange sports activities where there is student demand. As an example the college has a football team and training sessions are organised usually in the evening. Students are encouraged to take part in local activities.
When students visit their friends or relatives at week-ends, they must inform the host family and preferably the college.
The college does not have a uniform and students dress casually.
At Cambridge Seminars we recognise that good accommodation is an essential element in a successful academic programme.
We like to ensure that all our students have their own rooms with appropriate facilities and storage space. We help students locate accommodation within walking distance of the College and we are not far from the historic Cambridge city centre and Grafton shopping centre.
Host Family Accommodation:
We have well-established links with good local host families who provide term time accommodation on a bed, breakfast and evening meal basis. Some families look after just one or two students while others are happy to provide accommodation for several students. Each student has their own individual room with study facilities. Host family accommodation is particularly suitable for students who appreciate a family atmosphere.
Self Catering Accommodation:
For those students who prefer to find their own self-catering accommodation, the college will provide assistance in making contact with suitable letting agents or landlords.
Cambridge is a very peaceful city with a good environment, pleasant atmosphere and is a convenient place to live.
