New Jersey Virtual School:
Based in Tinton Falls, Monmouth County, The New Jersey Virtual School (NJVS) offers quality, online instruction to high school and middle school students in Grades 6 -12 for remediation, promotion, or to earn additional credits to meet New Jersey high school graduation requirements. All courses are taught by highly-qualified New Jersey certified teachers and all courses are aligned to the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards. New Jersey Virtual is not a diploma granting establishment. Since 2002, we have provided high-quality and affordable courses to more than 450 school districts, agencies, alternative programs, and residential facilities in New Jersey with over 14,000 enrollments.
We offer affordable and high-quality online instruction for the purposes of:
- New Course Credit (means that you are taking the course for the first time, or you need to take the full course as stated by your school due to not receiving credit)
- Credit Recovery (means you must re-take the course, as per your school, in order to receive credit toward graduation/promotion)
- Earning Additional Credits for Graduation
Students must consult with their guidance counselor/school administrator to determine what course they need, and if it is a new credit course (comprehensive) or a credit recovery course (make-up). NJVS offers remedial summer school courses as well as courses for students who want to challenge themselves with additional academic courses or Advanced Placement classes.
NJVS uses the Florida Virtual School’s award-winning courses which are aligned to National and NJ State standards. Annually, the Florida Virtual School has over 100,000 student enrollments nationally and globally. Instructional pace levels can also be modified by the teacher to accommodate different learners.
We offer courses at standard, remedial and honors levels in:
21st Century Life & Careers; Art / Visual Arts; Business Technology; English; Foreign Language; Math; PE & Health; Science; Social Studies; Study Skills (SAT preparation)
New Jersey Virtual High School is accredited by the New Jersey Department of Education. NJVS courses have also been approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse; Advanced Placement courses have been approved by the College Board.
Our Teachers:
Every NJVS student is assigned a highly-qualified New Jersey certified teacher who interacts with the student and parent, providing extra help and encouragement to assist the student to successfully complete the course.
NJVS teachers are experienced in the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards since most are teachers in public schools throughout the State. NJVS hires only New Jersey certified high-qualified teachers in their subject areas who hold a standard endorsement. NJVS follows the same hiring practices required for public school teachers: interviews, orientation, application and résumé, reference checks, credentials on file, fingerprinting, and MOESC Board approval.
