Engineer, Maintenance Technician ​/ Mechanic

The Engineer I assists with the maintenance and operation of all mechanical equipment, appliances, building-related systems, and routine general maintenance. This position works closely with other Engineers under the supervision of the Lead Engineer/Chief Engineer.

The Engineer I performs scheduled maintenance and building repairs, including equipment testing, and preventative maintenance. They also perform unscheduled maintenance calls, including plumbing emergencies, minor equipment malfunctions, HVAC calls, electrical and lighting repairs, and minor structural repairs (ceiling, floor, door, etc). Additionally, they assist in the operation and maintenance of fire/life safety systems for the property and perform regularly scheduled Preventative Maintenance tasks to ensure all building equipment is functioning properly.

They respond to emergency calls after hours as directed, promote and maintain safe work practices focusing on overall safety, and work with tenants to understand their needs in order to build and maintain positive, productive and professional relations.

The Engineer I performs other related duties as assigned. They use tools and equipment needed for building maintenance and repair, and general office equipment.

Knowledge of building and equipment maintenance/repair techniques and basic property management tools and skills is required. Skills in organizational and interpersonal skills, applying building and equipment maintenance/repair technique, meeting deadlines, accomplishing work in order of priority, professionally maintaining composure & effectiveness under pressure and changing conditions, self-motivation, leadership, teamwork and collaboration, and conflict management resolution are also required.

Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines.
