Summary
This position is located within the Environmental Management Services Division of a VA Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The role reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor or designee and involves both janitorial and custodial services.
QualificationsApplicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of 07/10/2026. Evaluation follows the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications and the job element method. Applicants must provide detailed descriptions of paid, unpaid, and volunteer experience, with credit given for qualifications, including volunteer work. Screen‑out criteria apply: WG‑2 and higher only, WG‑1 not eligible. A full year of work is considered 35‑40 hours per week.
Part‑time experience is credited proportionally.
- Continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling and pushing.
- Occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial buffers) weighing over 50 pounds.
- Requires considerable dexterity, hand‑foot‑eye coordination, concentration, and visual acuity.
- Work performed indoors with adequate heat, light, and ventilation; some outdoor work with varying heat, cold, and inclement weather.
- PPE may be required; exposure to potential contagious diseases, blood, and bodily fluids inherent to the role.
- Risk of serious injury when working on ladders or handling 30‑100 pound power equipment or hazardous materials.
- Perform light and heavy cleaning duties and routine housekeeping tasks in patient rooms, wards, storerooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, and shower rooms.
- Swear, mop, scrub (machine) floors, vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture, empty waste baskets, clean light globes and Venetian blinds, wash walls, windows and ceilings by climbing small ladders, refill toilet tissue and towel dispensers, and move furniture.
- Address spills quickly, discard trash, install light bulbs, vacuum and polish floors.
- Carry out assignments with minimal supervision.
- Work schedule:
Monday‑Friday, Wednesday‑Sunday, weekends and holidays;
Second Shift 3:15 p‑11:45 p, third Shift 10:30 p‑7:00 a. Schedule subject to change based on agency needs. - Position Description Title/PD#:
