Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Electronics, Mechanics, or a related field is required.
- Four years of experience in repairing, rehabilitating, and servicing rail car systems or an equivalent area, preferably as a Journeyman Electronic Technician and/or Mechanic.
- Three years of experience in rail car maintenance or an equivalent operation in a similar rail transit property or railroad is highly desirable.
- In lieu of experience, a bachelor's degree in engineering or a directly related field may substitute for two years of experience.
- Directly related work experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis in lieu of the educational requirement.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of personnel engaged in rehabilitation, preventive servicing, inspection, and repair of the Authority's rail cars.
- Perform and document service performed according to the standards in the area assigned.
- Monitor inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Monitor work orders and ensure sufficient materials are on hand to complete work efficiently.
- Coordinate or expedite purchase of services and equipment with vendors, and assist in monitoring external contractor quality and contractual compliance.
- Coordinate training and development for assigned personnel.
- Carry out major assignments in conducting the operations of the business.
- Perform work that affects business operations to a substantial degree.
- Must have or obtain within 30 days a Wayside Level 3 certification.
