Senior Center Day Porter / Janitor Job Description

A-Action Facility Services Inc. is looking for a Day Porter/Janitor responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment throughout the facility during regular business hours. Experienced in healthcare and senior care settings, the Day Porter follows infection prevention protocols and sanitation standards to help protect the health and safety of participants, staff, and visitors.

• Clean and sanitize, restrooms, offices, hallways, lobbies, waiting areas, and common spaces.
• Perform routine disinfecting of high-touch surfaces using approved healthcare cleaning products and procedures.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces to maintain a clean and professional appearance.
• Empty trash and biohazard waste containers according to safety guidelines and replace liners.
• Restock restroom, hand hygiene, and cleaning supplies.
• Clean windows, glass doors, elevators, and entryways.
• Respond promptly to spills and other environmental service needs.
• Follow OSHA, CDC, and facility infection control policies while using personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling cleaning chemicals safely.
• Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and supply shortages to supervisors.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and ensure it is properly sanitized after use.
• Deliver courteous, respectful service while interacting with participants, visitors, and staff.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in healthcare environmental services (EVS), hospitals, medical offices, nursing homes, assisted living communities, or senior centers preferred.
• Knowledge of infection prevention, sanitation procedures, chemical safety, and proper waste disposal.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
