Assistant Central Utility Plant (CUP) Supervisor General Info

Pay: $46.44/hour plus fringe benefit of $11.80/hr. ($8.80 H&W/$3.00 401(k) contribution)

Must be available to work on the weekends as business and operational needs may require.
Must be available to respond to operational issues and provide support outside of regular business hours due to the continuous 24/7 operations of the Central Utility Plants (CUPS)
Work schedule may be adjusted based on operational requirements at the discretion of the Campus Manager or Contract Administrator
Schedule may periodically shift to evenings or nights. If no schedule change is required, this role is still expected to engage with and provide oversight to employees working those shifts as needed.

Shift Differential: 4% (2nd shift) or 6% (3rd shift) differential pay only if the majority of hours worked fall within the shift differential window

Job Description

The Central Utility Plant (CUP) Assistant Maintenance Supervisor oversees the daily operations and maintenance of two central utility plants and surrounding campus grounds. This position provides direct supervision to skilled trades staff and is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of boilers, chillers, cooling towers, generators, auxiliary equipment, and related facility systems. The CUP Assistant Maintenance Supervisor will schedule and assign preventive maintenance work, perform complex maintenance tasks as needed, coordinate projects with campus leadership, estimate labor and material requirements, track work progress and employee training, approve time and leave, and support staff development through performance evaluations and safety training.

Key Responsibilities /Essential Duties:

Supervise trade personnel, including mechanics, repairers, laborers, and other maintenance staff, in the operation and maintenance of boilers, chillers, cooling towers, auxiliary equipment, generator systems, and campus grounds.
Plan, schedule, and assign preventive maintenance duties to support consistent utility services and departmental standards.
Perform skilled maintenance tasks as needed based on workload and operational needs.
Assist building coordinators and campus management with planning and implementing work projects and maintenance methods.
Estimate time, labor, and materials required for proposed jobs.
Maintain records and submit requisitions for supplies, materials, and equipment.
Complete employee performance reports and support staff development.
Conduct and document ongoing safety and ISO training.
Monitor work production in CDC's IFMS systems.
Track employee training in the FSE Training Tracker.
Review, track, and approve employee time and leave requests in Time Clock Plus.
Assist in the daily oversight of operations and maintenance of the physical central utility plants and surrounding campus grounds. Directly oversee operations for these locations when the CUP Maintenance Supervisor is off campus.
Ensure work is performed in compliance with applicable safety rules, regulations, and procedures.

Knowledge, Abilities, and

Skills:

Experience supervising building and equipment maintenance in a federal facility of at least 100,000 square feet.
Strong knowledge of multiple trades, including carpentry, painting, mechanical, electrical, and general facility maintenance. Strong knowledge and experience in the operation of boilers and chillers.
Ability to exercise independent judgment regarding job priorities, methods, materials, and work assignments.
Experience managing a team of at least 10 employees.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules applicable to facility and maintenance work, to include boilers, steam, and flue gas, and water towers.
Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and techniques.
Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, and methods used across multiple building and mechanical trades.
