Position Summary
The Facilities Manager is responsible for creating, maintaining, and sustaining a safe, secure, and productive work environment for all Big Green Egg employees — across our headquarters, distribution and warehouse operations, and future BGE facilities. This role owns the physical environment end to end: safety and security systems, building operations and appearance, vendor partnerships, preventive maintenance, and workspace planning.
Success in this role is invisible. The building simply works, people feel safe and proud of where they work, and when the unexpected happens the team responds in a calm, organized, and protective way. The Facilities Manager makes that happen through strong systems, dependable relationships, and a proactive, service-minded approach.
Key Responsibilities
Essential functions of the role include:
- Ensure fire, smoke, and life-safety systems stay functional, code-compliant, and well-maintained, with clear emergency signage, evacuation plans, and communication processes that are simple, redundant, and able to scale as the company grows.
- Manage alarms, cameras, and an employee badging and access-control system, keeping buildings appropriately accessible during business hours and secured when closed, with a clear escalation chain that minimizes unnecessary after-hours calls.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with city, county, and local protective services by staying compliant with code and making effective useof the resources they offer.
- Hold the everyday standard without fail — clean, well-supplied restrooms, professional grounds, parking, and signage and tidy interiors — so the space consistently reflects BGE's brand.
- Keep building systems and company vehicles in safe working order, maintain effective pest and rodent control, and ensure a dependable supply of operational needs such as parcels and USPS, trash, compost, and propane, with systems that sustain coverage when you are out.
- Establish and run a preventive-maintenance cadence for HVAC, roofing, security, and fire systems, and conduct and document regular inspections to catch issues before they become problems.
- Source, negotiate, and manage outsourced service contracts, hold vendors accountable to required service levels, and track work orders and maintenance history to anticipate needs and control cost.
- Partner with work groups, leaders, and Retail to plan evolving space needs, reduce clutter, and improve productivity and comfort, including hands-on setup such as assembling furniture and building cube pods, directly or by coordinating help.
- Develop and manage facilities, budgets, track, and forecast spend, maintain permits, and code compliance across all facilities, and support special projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of facilities management or building operations experience, ideally across more than one site or building type (office and/or warehouse/industrial).
- Working knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire and life-safety, and security systems.
- Familiarity with commercial building codes, OSHA, and safety and…
