Job Description:

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) - Georgia Academy for the Blind (GAB), is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Housekeeper in Macon, Georgia. Under close supervision, the Housekeeper maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout assigned facilities. Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining buildings, furnishings, and equipment; stocking supplies in common areas; moving furniture and equipment as needed; and performing general housekeeping duties in accordance with established procedures.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to providing a clean and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, dormitories, common areas, and other assigned facilities.

Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain floors and other surfaces.

Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly.

Clean and sanitize restrooms and restock supplies as needed.

Clean windows, doors, furniture, fixtures, and other assigned areas.

Maintain an adequate inventory of custodial supplies and notify the supervisor when replenishment is needed.

Follow all established safety, sanitation, and custodial procedures.

Report maintenance, repair, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

Assist with special cleaning projects and campus events as needed.

Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when working around students and staff.

Lift and move supplies, equipment, and materials weighing up to 30 pounds or more.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Preferred qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Previous housekeeping, custodial, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and use custodial products and supplies.

Ability to perform the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting.

Demonstrated reliability, dependability, and a strong work ethic.

Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance.

Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Minimum Qualifications:

One (1) year of experience as a lead worker in a related area of assignment; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Housekeeper 2 (FES
041) or position equivalent.
