Part-Time Maintenance & Custodial

Reports To:

Maintenance Manager

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Hours:

25 hours per week, Part-Time

Position Summary

The Part-Time Maintenance & Custodial employee is responsible for helping maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for employees, visitors, and program participants. This position performs routine custodial duties, basic facility maintenance, room setup, and other general building support tasks. The ideal candidate is dependable, takes pride in maintaining a clean and orderly facility, and is able to work independently while responding to the day-to-day needs of the organization.

Qualifications
  • Previous custodial, janitorial, maintenance, or facilities experience preferred.
  • Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks with limited supervision.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic cleaning procedures, equipment, and supplies preferred.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with employees, visitors, vendors, and members of the public.
  • Ability to recognize and report safety and maintenance concerns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine cleaning and custodial duties throughout the facility.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors and common areas.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, fixtures, mirrors, and other surfaces.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners as needed.
  • Dust and wipe down furniture, countertops, doors, windows, and other surfaces.
  • Clean and maintain offices, meeting rooms, hallways, entrances, and other assigned areas.
  • Replenish restroom, cleaning, and facility supplies.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down rooms for meetings, trainings, programs, and special events.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks and basic repairs as appropriate.
  • Identify and promptly report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damaged equipment, plumbing issues, or other facility problems.
  • Maintain custodial equipment, tools, and supplies in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
  • Assist with deliveries and movement of supplies, furniture, or equipment when needed.
  • Follow established safety procedures and proper handling requirements for cleaning products and equipment.
  • Help ensure entrances, walkways, and other areas are safe and accessible.
  • Perform other maintenance, custodial, and facility-related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear to exchange information in person and by telephone.
  • Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or operate standard office equipment.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop or kneel.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, files).
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in a standard office setting with moderate noise levels (e.g., conversations, printers, phones). The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

Duties may involve occasional travel between work sites, schools, or off-site meetings.

Work hours are typically during the standard business day, but occasional evening or weekend work may be required for meetings or events. The work environment is generally climate controlled and ergonomically equipped.
